Sempergreen® USA will be taking part in the New Amsterdam Village event September 4-14, 2009

August 18th - On September 4-14, 2009 Sempergreen® USA will be taking part in the New Amsterdam Village event in New York. This event is part of the New York 400 festivities to commemorate the discovery of Manhattan in 1609 by Henry Hudson for the Dutch United East India Company. This colony became New Amsterdam and ultimately New York. After 400 years this special relationship between the City of New York and the Netherlands continues to exist. As you may be aware a number of activities will be held in the first half of September to commemorate this event.

The New Amsterdam Village is the contribution of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Netherlands agribusiness and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to New York 400. It consists of 12 traditional Dutch houses (with various traditional gables) and a demonstration glasshouse. The houses will showcase, sample and sell Dutch agricultural products and traditional handicrafts while the model glasshouse will present technological developments in glasshouse horticulture and horticultural products. Also our Sempergreen green roof will be seen in the New Amsterdam Village, which will be located in Bowling Green Park, adjacent to the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House (the current National Museum of the American Indian). The Village will be open until September 14th, 2009.
