At Hotel & Wellness Zuiver, bordering Amsterdam’s largest park, a 560 m² SemperGreenwall brings the forest indoors. Inspired by the four seasons, the façade’s 50,000 plants change throughout the year, creating a living reflection of nature’s rhythm and timeless beauty.

Cleaner air

1 m² of living wall filters fine dust, absorbs 2.3 kg CO₂ and produces 1.7 kg oxygen per year.

Cradle to Cradle certified

A living façade that changes with the seasons

On the edge of Amsterdam’s largest park, the remodelled Hotel & Wellness Zuiver has extended the green atmosphere to its building with a 560 m² SemperGreenwall. The design of the recently renovated and expanded hotel was inspired by the experience of the four seasons in the surrounding forest ‘Amsterdamse Bos’. While the rooms are designed according to beautiful spring, summer, autumn and winter-themes, the living walls will also represent every season with a different look. Of the over 50.000 plants living in the façade, many are winter-hardy or summer bloomers, ensuring a green but varying appearance year-round.

Keeping it green

The abundance of plants adds to the healthy and relaxing spa atmosphere at Hotel & Wellness Zuiver. Its automatic irrigation system also keeps the maintenance of the SemperGreenwall low-effort. The web-based Plant Care System can be monitored and tweaked remotely, and includes a frost-security system, which prevents damage in cold times and keeps the walls looking as green as they can be all year.

Thanks to the green façades of both buildings, our resort now connects even more closely with its lush surroundings.

Smart technology, lasting impact

The SemperGreenwall Outdoor system used for Zuiver is modular and pre-grown, ensuring instant greenery upon installation. Each Flexipanel is cultivated for months before placement, with plants rooted in mineral wool for long-term resilience. The integrated Plant Care System automatically provides the right amount of water and nutrients, monitored remotely for precision and efficiency. Even in winter, a built-in frost protection feature keeps the system safe and the plants thriving.

Combining nature, technology and comfort, the green façades of Hotel & Wellness Zuiver not only enhance the guest experience but also strengthen the connection between the resort and its lush surroundings — a perfect reflection of the Amsterdamse Bos just beyond its walls.

The façade includes a subtle gutter detail to collect excess water, which can later be reused within the irrigation system.
