Nursery in Spain extensively expanded

Research on most suitable Sedums

In addition to growing vegetation mats, Sempergreen's Research & Development department undertakes ongoing research into the most suitable sediments for the Mediterranean area. Many Sedums originate in the Mediterranean region and are therefore extremely resistant to the warm and dry climate of this region. However, not all Sedum plants are applicable to extensive green roofs. Sempergreen therefore selects only the most suitable Sedum species for the cultivation of the different vegetation mats. This way you can rest assured that your green roof will remain really green all year long.

Climate change causes heat stress

Due to the ever-increasing climate change, the temperature is rising in the city. This is also called the Urban Heat Island effect. In order to keep the city climate proof and sustainable in the future, the application of green is evident. Green roofs can make a significant contribution to the application of greenery and thereby reduce the temperature in the city. In addition, a green roof buffers water and through evaporation water will return to the atmosphere or it is released slowly into the sewage system. Given the increase in extreme rainfall, water retention is one of the most important features of a green roof.
