An office that brings people together again

After the lockdowns, Beringea seized the opportunity to rethink office life. Together with Mowat & Company, the venture capital firm transformed its London office into a place where wellbeing, connection and calm take centre stage. The traditional office made way for an open, welcoming hub that encourages employees to come together, share ideas and feel at home.

The impressive living wall acts as a natural anchor within the space. It brings the outdoors inside, softens the interior and immediately sets the tone: this is a workplace where people truly matter.

Green as a foundation for wellbeing and collaboration

In high-pressure work environments, the physical setting plays a crucial role in how people feel and perform. The SemperGreenwall in Beringea’s office creates an immediate connection with nature. Greenery has a calming effect, reduces stress and supports a more positive state of mind. Employees experience greater balance and ease, which naturally enhances collaboration and open communication. The living wall also acts as a visual divider, subtly shaping zones for focused work as well as informal interaction.

Biophilic design is not just an aesthetic choice, but a strategic one. Research shows that working in green environments can lead to productivity increases of up to 15%. The plants in the living wall filter particulate matter from the air and convert CO₂ into oxygen, contributing to a healthier indoor climate. Employees feel more energised, experience less mental fatigue and are better able to maintain focus throughout the working day.

A future-proof workplace with a human scale

The office features a variety of work zones designed to support different needs. From open desks and informal seating to enclosed meeting pods and quiet areas tucked behind the green wall. The circular boardroom, inspired by Quaker meeting rooms, encourages equality, dialogue and collaboration. By combining nature, light and flexibility, the office adapts effortlessly to the rhythms of modern working life.

The renovation of Beringea’s London office demonstrates how a workplace can actively support mental health, connection and performance. The SemperGreenwall is not a decorative addition, but an essential part of the design concept. The office is now a place employees enjoy coming to, where clients feel genuinely welcome and where people and nature strengthen one another. A powerful example of how greenery shapes the future of work.

A deliberate break from the traditional office

Where venture capital offices are often associated with closed spaces and rigid hierarchies, Beringea consciously chose a different path. The renovation served as both a mental and spatial reset after the pandemic. The office was not designed as a place to ‘return to’, but as a space people want to reconnect with. Natural materials such as wood, glass and greenery reduce distance and tension, fostering openness and trust. The living green wall plays a key role as a soft, living counterbalance to screens, technology and meeting tables.

Green as an anchor in a dense urban setting

Located on Drury Lane, in the busy heart of London, the office functions as a calm refuge within a highly urban environment. This project shows how inner-city offices can greatly benefit from greenery. The SemperGreenwall creates a microclimate that contrasts with the pace of the city outside and helps employees mentally transition between urban life and focused work. Even brief visual contact with greenery has been proven to reduce stress and improve focus, making it especially valuable in compact urban workplaces.
