The Bogermanschool - designed by Luijk Architecten- in the Dutch city of Houten moved from the 'old town' to a new location. The new building is located at the border of the city between a row of historic farmhouses and a new district called 'Weteringhoek'. The 14-classes school marks this transition by a rising roofline, low on the side of the farms and higher towards the center of Weteringshoek.

The Bogermanschool features many sustainable measures, including a gently sloping Sedum roof in combination with solar panels. Thanks to these measures, the building meets Class B of the Dutch 'Clean Air Schools'-concept.

A Sedum roof increases the efficiency of solar panels, as the ambient temperature on the roof is reduced.
