Multifunctional Surface
Every component of the roof plays a role. Rainwater is buffered, and nature is afforded space to flourish.
In Winterberg, Germany, a ski lift house has been transformed with a lush Sempergreen green roof. The sustainable Sedum solution blends the building perfectly into its natural surroundings, adding year-round beauty and biodiversity to the alpine landscape.
Every component of the roof plays a role. Rainwater is buffered, and nature is afforded space to flourish.
The roof stores water during heavy rainfall and helps cool the surroundings during summer heat.
A diverse planting plan attracts pollinators, birds, and native insects. This turns the roof into a thriving ecosystem.
The roof of the elevator house features a 20° pitched design. To green this sloping surface, the Sempergreen Sedum Mix Mat Type T was the perfect solution. Specifically developed for pitched roofs with inclinations up to 45°, this pre-cultivated vegetation mat contains a vibrant mix of 6 to 8 different Sedum species.
Thanks to its pre-grown nature, the Sedum Mix blanket Type T can be installed year-round, even during the colder months, as long as it’s frost-free. This flexibility ensures that the lift house in Winterberg remains green, resilient, and ready for every season — a perfect showcase of how sustainable design can complement even the most dynamic environments.
