At BMW’s new service center in Brno, a green roof was installed in midwinter without issue. The pre-grown Sedum mats endured the cold easily and, by summer, had transformed the roof into a lush, thriving layer of greenery in full bloom.

This green roof at the new BMW service center in Brno, Czech Republic, received a snowy beginning. The installation of the Sempergreen vegetation blankets occurred in the middle of winter (view the installation video below). However, this did not pose a problem for the quality of the plants. Because the Sedum mats are pre-grown, they can withstand the most extreme weather conditions. This is also evident from the photos and video of the following summer; the green roof is vibrantly green and grows and flowers abundantly.
Green roof installation in just 7 days
Installation of the 15,460 sq ft measuring green roof only took 7 days. Flat roofs are ideal for applying a green roof. The system structure for a flat, water-retaining green roof consists of a drainage layer with filter fleece, extensive roof garden substrate, and a vegetation blanket. Because the Sedum blankets are pre-grown, they are very easy to roll out, resulting in an immediate green result. The Sedum-mix blankets are planted with six to eight different types of Sedum and always boast at least 95% coverage on delivery.
