Poznań Tramlines Flourish with Sedum Green Cover

In Poznań, Poland’s fifth largest city, green ground cover has been planted on and surrounding the main tramway. The project was commissioned by APK Dachy Zielone and Sempergreen supplied 1350 m² of Sedum-mix blankets for the project.

Direct-green from day one

Pre-cultivated Sedum-mix blankets arrive with 95% coverage, creating an instant green effect and minimising weeds.

Built for infrastructure

Sedum thrives under harsh roadside conditions, buffers rainwater and improves air quality.

Every square meter counts

Even traffic islands become stepping stones for biodiversity, supporting bees, butterflies and other insects.

Continuation of a green tradition

As early as 1930, the capital, Warsaw began sowing grass on the tramway. In 2017, the municipality switched to Sedum, because of its low maintanance and quick and easy installation. In addition to Warsaw (and Wrocław), Poznán is also greening its tramways. It is a relatively simple way to make a city greener and more sustainable. In Poznań, the tram network comprises 20 lines and spreads over approximately 66 kilometres on standard gauge. So there is a lot of urban green to be achieved.

A colourful appearance

Sempergreen’s direct-green ground covering requires little maintenance. It is also environmentally friendly, absorbing CO2 and particulate matter, while providing a water-buffering and cooling effect on the urban environment. In addition, the Sedum plants offer a colourful appearance throughout the seasons, with a flowering time from May to September.
