Castellum Hoge Woerd, a museum in the Dutch city of De Meern, was built on the exact spot where 2,000 years ago, the original Roman fort was located. Skets architect opted for a sustainable approach to this particular construction on an archaeological monument. At the pavilion a green roof was installed covering an area of 1000 m² with Sedum-grass-herbs blankets of Sempergreen. In combination with an underground heat-cold storage, solar cells on the watchtowers and the use of sustainable materials, this Castellum makes for a modern interpretation of a Roman fort.
