Sempergreen green roofs are easy to maintain. A Sedum roof requires only two simple maintenance visits per year—typically in spring and fall—to remove weeds, check drainage, and apply nutrients. No mowing is necessary. Biodiverse roofs require a bit more attention, with 2–3 maintenance sessions per year and a trim at the end of winter to keep plants healthy. In dry periods, occasional watering may be necessary, especially right after installation to help the plants establish.

What is a green wall?

A green wall, also called a living wall or vertical garden, is a facade system covered with plants. It can be installed both indoors and outdoors and turns unused walls into climate-proof, green surfaces. SemperGreenwall systems are pre-cultivated, modular and equipped with a fully automatic irrigation system.

Does a green wall contribute to LEED or BREEAM?

Yes. A SemperGreenwall can contribute to a higher LEED or BREEAM score, always in combination with other sustainability measures. Benefits include improved energy efficiency, water management, biodiversity, and healthier indoor environments.

Is a Green Wall Fire Resistant?

Yes. SemperGreenwall systems are tested and certified to European fire safety standards A-s2,d0 and B-s2,d0. The A2 system is suitable for high-rise and escape routes, while the B2 system is widely applied in schools, offices, hospitals, hotels, and shopping centers.

Which plants are suitable for a green wall?

Sempergreen meticulously selects robust, perennial species tested for each climate zone worldwide. For outdoor walls, resilient plants such as perennials, ferns, and shrubs are utilized. For indoor walls, plant choices depend on daylight levels. Patterns, logos, and custom designs are possible.

Can a green wall be installed year-round?

Yes, installation is possible almost all year. Only in frost conditions is the installation of outdoor systems postponed.
